	Akakura Kanko Hotel in Akakan Resort The Akakura Kanko Hotel is the most famous of all Myoko hotels (see larger photo above) and is a Japan ski industry icon. This classic European style hotel, the first of it's kind in Japan, is perched high on the slopes of Shin-Akakura Kanko (Akakan) ski area where one can ski in and ski out. The hotel was built in 1937 and still retains its sense of history. Expect a high standard of service and enjoy a hot spring on the balcony in the snow.

	Hotel Kofukan - Ryokan Kofukan near Myokokogen Station This establishment was opened in 2004 featuring large rooms with both Japanese and Western style accommodation available. It is only three minutes by free shuttle from Myokokogen station with wonderful relaxing hotsprings and a great view of Mt. Myoko. A free shuttle bus service is available to and from Suginohara ski field during the winter. Discount ski lift tickets are also available for purchase. 	Pension Four Seasons in Madarao-Kogen You can enjoy the nearby ski slopes in winter or the cool of the summer highlands in Madarao Kogen. The property is separated into two buildings with rooms or a log cabin available. The six rooms can sleep 2 to 4 people and breakfast is included. The independent log house has two bedrooms plus living area, kitchen and bathroom. Alight at JR Iiyama Station and take a bus to Madarao-kogen.

	Shibu Hotel in Shibu Onsen Shibu Hotel is a Japanese-style inn popular with foreign visitors. Free collection from station and shuttle to Jigokudani Yaen Koen (Monkey Park) available. 	Soratobu Usagi Myoko in Suginohara Ski Area is very popular, offers comfortable and affordable accommodation and even got a mention in Qantas Travel Insider. The location is fantastic, right in the middle of the Myoko Suginohara ski area trails, with one of the chairlifts going almost past the window. There's a restaurant, ski rental, common bath and internet access. 	Nakatani Ryokan in Togakushi Village This traditional style ryokan establishment includes a garden with a variety of alpine plants thats offers time and space for calm and contemplation. 	Pension Almanac in Lake Nojiri / Kurohime Five minutes by car from the Shinano-machi interchange. This establishment has a homely cabin feel with Chinese meals available. Facilities include coin laundry, ski and snowboard rental as well as ski wear, a ski drying room and internet access (e-mail).

	Zenkoji Tokugyoubou in Nagano City Zenkoji Tokugyoubou is located right in the grounds of Zenkoji Temple. It is a shukubo - the kind of lodging that is traditionally attached to a Japanese temple. A shukubo is similar to traditional Japanese inns but at a shukubo you can join in morning prayers with the temple monks and eat shojin ryori - the special austere, vegetarian meal for monks. The rooms are traditional Japanese rooms with tatami mats and a light cotton yukata is offered for sleeping. No credit cards accepted.
	Matsuya Ryokan in Nagano City is an amazing traditional inn located right at the heart of Zenkoji Temple. Matsuya is recommended for those who love to have a taste of very traditional Japanese culture, architectural design and value for money. There is a Jizo statue related to the Zenko-ji Temple at the entrance. As it is a traditional ryokan, there is no internet access. This popular establishment also offers private reservable rotemburo (outdoor baths).
